The wheel
38 pockets: 1 through 36 (18 red, 18 black), plus a green 0 and a green 00. The double zero is what gives the house its edge. If Lucky's had a single-zero European wheel the house edge would drop from 5.26% to 2.70%. Lucky's does not have a European wheel.
Payouts
- Straight up (single number): 35:1
- Split (two numbers): 17:1
- Street (three numbers): 11:1
- Corner (four numbers): 8:1
- Six line: 5:1
- Column or dozen: 2:1
- Red / Black, Odd / Even, 1–18 / 19–36: 1:1
House edge
The house edge on almost every bet is 5.26%. The only exception is the "top line" 0-00-1-2-3 basket bet, which pays 6:1 and has a house edge of 7.89%. Never make the top line bet.
Strategy
There is no long-term winning strategy on an American wheel — the edge is baked into every bet, and betting systems like Martingale (double after every loss) only guarantee you go broke faster when you finally hit the table maximum. Roulette is a variance game. Bet what you can afford to lose, cash out on a win, and move on.
The one useful roulette move in Lucky's: it's a great losing on purpose tool. If Mob Heat is spiking and you need to shed it, a few red/black bets that go bad lower it quickly without draining too much bankroll.
