How to play
You're dealt five cards. You pick which to hold and which to discard. The machine replaces the discards. If your final five-card hand is a pair of jacks or better, you get paid according to the pay table.
The 9/6 pay table (per coin, five-coin bet)
- Royal flush: 800
- Straight flush: 50
- Four of a kind: 25
- Full house: 9
- Flush: 6
- Straight: 4
- Three of a kind: 3
- Two pair: 2
- Jacks or better: 1
The "9/6" refers to the full-house-and-flush pays. A 9/6 machine with correct play returns 99.54%. Anything less is worse odds. Lucky's only stocks the 9/6 machines because the pit trusts you to lose them fair and square.
Hold strategy — short list
- Any made hand (pair of jacks+, two pair, trips, straight, flush, full house, quads).
- Four to a royal flush — break a made flush or straight to draw for it.
- Four to a straight flush.
- Three to a royal flush.
- Any low pair over three high cards.
- Two suited high cards over one high card.
- Nothing? Toss all five and re-deal.
